By Air: The nearest airport to reach Darjeeling is Bagdogra Airport (IXB) in Siliguri. After arriving at the airport, you can reach Darjeeling in 3-4 hours by road.
By Rail: New Jalpaiguri Railway Station in Siliguri has rail connectivity from all parts of India. From Siliguri, you can either book the famous Toy Train to Darjeeling or travel by road.
By Road: There are buses, private taxis, and sharing taxis available from Siliguri to Darjeeling, which takes around 3-4 hours to reach.
Visa requirement: Foreigners are required to obtain an India visa for travelling to Darjeeling.
Special Permits: Foreigners after arriving at the Bagdogra Airport with a stay of 15 or fewer days are not required special permits.
Mandatory reporting: Foreigners must report to the Foreigners Registration Office for Darjeeling visit after arriving at the Bagdogra Airport.
Ensure passports are stamped: If foreigners are travelling via road or rail, then their passports need to be stamped at designated immigration offices or checkpoints.
No permits required for Indian citizens: Indian citizens do not require any special permit to travel to Darjeeling. However, carrying valid documents is advisable.
